Community Performance & Workshop Commissions

Migration Matters Festival is a five-day free theatre and arts festival happening taking place in Sheffield during the annual Refugee Week (19th-23rd June) that celebrates diversity and recognises the positive impact migration has on the city. Our mission statement is, “Bringing Sheffield’s communities together through art, performance and celebration”.

As part of this year’s festival, we are looking to commission around 5 community events. If you have a workshop, activity, food, performance or other event that ties in with our mission statement, we would like to hear about it!

We are asking local groups (or individuals) to submit an application for a performance, workshop or event that does one or more of the following:

  • Reflects their culture
  • Celebrates diversity
  • Celebrates migration
  • Relates to the Sheffield Carnival theme of ‘rebirth’

Examples of relevant entries may include: talks, creative workshops, performances covering: music, theatre, dance or music; art installations, moving image/ film screenings.

We will be able to provide up to £500 for the commission.

If you are interested in applying please fill in this online form by 5pm on 8th April 2018.

If you are having trouble with the online form, you can download a Microsoft Word copy of the form and return it to, by 5pm on 8th April 2018.
