Join Ayesha Fazal, Company Scheherazade's Rehearsal Director & Company Dancer, for open class on Monday morning!
Ayesha will lead a tailored warm up focusing on somatics, isolations, pulse racers & technique work. The class will incorporate technical training, movement exploration and learning choreography developed for the touring production of CROWN. Working with our signature theme of body sovereignty.
Expect great tunes, sweaty vibes and a good time!
Please Note: this class is open to professional dance artists, dancers in training or people with movement experience.
About Ayesha Fazal
Manchester dance artist Ayesha Fazal graduated with a First Class BA(Hons) Degree in Dance and Choreography from Falmouth University (2015-2018). Ayesha has performed from Birmingham Hippodrome Main Stage with a live orchestra to an outdoor performance at Rochester Castle with 200 community members. She has worked with companies such as Southpaw Dance Company, Rosie Kay Dance Company, Highly Sprung, Icon Theatre, Wriggle Dance Theatre, Sonia Sabri, Tangled Dance Company, Keneish Dance and many more.
She branches into new roles such as being a dance captain for the Rugby League World Cup and most recently movement direction for Manjeet Mann's novel 'Run Rebel' directed for stage by Tessa Walker. Alongside performing and facilitating across the nation she is on board as a young director with ThickSkin Theatre where she kicked off her freelance career with 360 VR performance PETRICHOR. Ayesha is passionate about performing, creating and paving the way for the future of dance and young artists. She strives for keeping dance inclusive, representative and heartfelt.
About Company Scheherazade
Company Scheherazade creates dance performances and multi-sensory experiences examining identity and displacement. Company SCHE works with artists of the global majority who have lived experience of displacement. We tell stories of the diaspora and challenge narratives about migration. CROWN is Company SCHE's flagship production.
Maria Tarokh is a British-Iranian Dancer, Choreographer & Director. Trained in ballet, contemporary and Classical Persian dance, she has performed and taught at shows, festivals and events across the UK and Europe for the past 14 years. She brings her wealth of experience in performing arts in the UK to create and lead the production to tour. A second-generation immigrant to the UK, she has worked extensively with refugees and asylum seekers and fully believes in the power of the arts to transform and empower people and places.
