Part 1: Belly Dance and Queer Politics Workshop
19:00 - 20:00

A workshop with Shrouk El-Attar (Dancing Queer) covering the past and present of belly dance and how it ties into queer politics followed by a belly dance lesson. Open to all abilities- come ready to get moving and shake your hips!'

Shrouk El-Attar (She/Her or They/Them) is a Queer Electronics Engineer and Belly Dancer. Born in Egypt, they have been living in the UK as a refugee since 2007. Named as one of the '100 Most Influential Women in the World' by the BBC in 2018, Shrouk passionately advocates for LGBT+ rights and shares their personal experience of being a Queer Arab through Egyptian belly dance performances.

Part 2: Performance of Dancing Queer (Work in Progress)
20:30 - 23:00

Explore the world of dance with Shrouk El-Attar as she merges her experience as a drag king, belly dancer, engineer and queer refugee in this scratch performance of 'Dancing Queer'- a theatrical show in development.

Keep the party going with a set from DJ Atrialia (She/Her): a queer Arab trailblazer amplifying the pulse of queer Arabic sounds in London. As one of the few openly queer femme DJs from the Arab world, her music is more than a setlist, it is a manifesto. A bold assertion of identity, freedom and community, her performances blend hypnotic rhythms, bass-heavy grooves and electrifying SWANA beats, crafting a sonic expression of the Western queer Arab diaspora experience.
