In the Cut

Groundation UK, curated by Rumbi Tauro

28 June | Time: 16:00 | Venue: Nomad Maison

ABOUT THE EVENT

In the Cut is a pop-up barbershop spotlighting Black men’s mental health and the barbershop as a healing space.

This edition features Black barbers and hairdressers offering free cuts and styles, recreating the salon vibe of open dialogue on Black healing.

The event will begin with a panel talk exploring themes of mental health, community, and the role of the barbershop as a sanctuary. Following the panel, haircuts will be offered on a drop-in basis, first come, first served—shape-ups* only.

While services are free, we invite an exchange of knowledge—your stories, insights, and conversations are your contribution.

Event Timings:

  • 16:00 - Doors open

  • 16:15 - 45min panel talk hosted by Groundation U.K.

  • 17:00-18:00 - 10 minute shape ups (first come, first served)

  • 18:00 - end of event

----

*A shape-up (also known as an edge-up or line-up) refers to the precise outlining or edging of the hairline. This includes:

  • Straightening and defining the front hairline

  • Sharpening the edges around the temples

  • Outlining the sideburns and back of the neck

It doesn’t involve a full haircut—just crisping up the perimeter for a clean, groomed look. Shape-ups are often done with clippers or a razor for maximum precision.
