Life in Limbo

Saskia Wilson, Sheffield Hallam University

20th June | 18:00 | Showroom Cinema

In these collaborative films, members of the pioneering refugee-led charity ‘Spark 15’ share their inspirational stories of survival, finding belonging and creating a unique organisation which campaigns for change in Malta.

The films highlight how there are few safe, legal routes to reach Europe. And how the thousands of people taking the perilous journey across the Mediterranean to Europe, can then find themselves in limbo for many years awaiting documents to be processed, caught in an apartheid-like system in which they don’t have equal employment and citizenship rights or status.
