Colours to the Mast

The Bare Project

26 June | Time: 13:00 | Venue: Adelphi Room, Crucible Theatre

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In collaboration with artists Kazna Asker and Cheelo, The Bare Project presents a participatory flag-making workshop exploring identity, protest, and belonging.

Through discussion and hands-on making, participants will design flags inspired by global textile traditions, creating symbols of hope, courage, and connection. Responding to the divisive use of the St George’s flag, this project reclaims public space with inclusive narratives.

Later in 2026, the collaboratively created flags will guide audiences to the Common Threads Festival, celebrating women’s cultural heritage and community in Sheffield.

  • This workshop will be led by creative producer Delight Mishael Cheelo and fasion designer Kazna Asker as part of The Bare Project's Common Threads.

Cheelo has produced a series of textile and sewing workshops with SADACCA as well as producing sustainable fashion shows and is brilliant at hosting space and welcoming participants.

Kazna is an award winning fashion designer whose brand is built on community, activism and charity.

  • The Bare Project is a theatre and interactive arts company based in Sheffield. They have been creating performances, socially engaged artworks, installations and curating festivals across the UK and internationally since 2012. They are an associate company at Sheffield Theatres.
