Poetry and Pot Luck 4

Poetry on a Plate and PYP

26 June | Time: 19:00 | Venue: Nomad Maison

ABOUT THE EVENT

Calling all lovers of the page and the pan!

Poetry and Pot Luck champions sharing and connection through eating and listening together.
Instead of paying for a ticket, you are encouraged to bring a home-cooked dish to share with an intimate audience as we enjoy an evening of spoken word.

Our celebration of food, literature and community brings people together to transcend borders through global flavours and poetry.

The evening will end with a participatory open mic, inviting audience members who have been inspired by the performers to share their own work.

“Celebrating diverse voices through verse and food, the night offered more than performances - it offered connection and conversation.”
- sheffieldtribune.co.uk

“With a sold-out crowd and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it was a beautiful celebration of what connects us. We explored the deep connections between food and community, how shared meals can bring people together, spark memories, and build a sense of belonging. Thank you to everyone who joined us, hearts and bellies were full”
- Nomad Maison (Instagram @nomadmaison)

  • Poetry and Pot Luck was created in July 2024 by poet and kitchen
    manager Nell and Cheelo, founder of Poets Yield Power. Since
    then we have run three sold out events in Sheffield. The first two
    were at Union St before we doubled our reach at Nomad Maison
    as part of Migration Matters Festival 2025.

    @_POETRYONAPLATE

    Nell is a Sheffield based poet who has performed and been
    published internationally. Nell continues to support and perform
    at local grassroots creative organisations such as Assist,
    Sheffield Writers for Palestine, Revolting Women Yorkshire.

    @PYP_SHEFFIELD
    Cheelo is a community centred multidisciplinary artist and
    creative producer. A community builder whose work centres
