Wonderful Women! A Story Quilt

Craft Camp with Women supported by Refugee Council

21-28 June | Time: 12:00 - 17:00 | Venue: Soft Ground

ABOUT THE SHOW

In 2024, community artist Sian Thomas (Craft Camp) received a grant from Tilehouse Trust to produce a creative collaborative piece of work with Refugee Women. We worked with two Refugee Council women's groups- one in Doncaster and one in Sheffield. The women each designed and created a 12 inch panel for the quilt, with the loose theme of "wonderful/super women"- (a title which the group collectively decided on). The quilt was sewn together and "Wonderful women - A story Quilt" was made!

This exhibition forms a part of our full exhibition & installation line-up at Soft Ground, including:

  • Madeleina Kay - Fragments of Identity: Portraits of Migration

  • Craft Camp with Women supported by Refugee Council - Wonderful Women! A Story Quilt

  • Phoebe Shu-Ching Chan - Layering Memories.层叠的记忆

  • Frontier Media - The Matter of Migration Podcast and Installation
