ABOUT THE IMMERSIVE SOUND WALK
Migration Menus is a self-guided audio walk to a perfect day of eating at the hugely varied migrant run restaurants and cafes of Sheffield’s London Road.
Whether you listen as you walk down the street - from breakfast to lunch, or from an afternoon snack to dinner - or as you try your hand at a recipe from home, each instalment serves up a delectable introduction to a beloved institution and its most prized dishes.
Through the voices of restaurant owners, staff and customers, Migration Menus explores migration as it is lived through food: cooking as memory work, sourcing ingredients across borders, and building a life in a new city. These restaurants are not simply places to eat, but sites of community, continuity and exchange.
Listeners are invited to visit, listen and eat, encountering Sheffield’s migrant food culture as a living archive of migration, cultural identity and belonging.
